Federal authorities today arrested a former Madison County deputy for his role in the roadside arrest and brutal beating of a Tennessee handyman in August of 2012. Deputy Justin Watson, who quit the force in April, was the only one named in the federal indictment.

IMO without Mr Stephens doing the expose then this deputy would have gotten off scot free. This is real journalism that you just dont see anymore.

It was factual as far as you can get without calling witnesses. Of course he relied on hearsay. And rumors, and innuendo. And talked to less than savory characters. Just like Law Enforcement does to get a grand jury to grant an indictment.
Turn about is fair play. How often do you see a so called journalist to actually do an in depth investigation? Not often, mostly they just read off a pre written script and that makes them a journalist. Or just report the latest talking points. Hell, a trained monkey could do that.
Dont they have forensic abilities down there? Certainly they left some evidence on the scene. A footprint, even. Guess local LE just wasnt interested.
I’m pretty sure local law enforcement wasn’t interested. Thank goodness someone was.
Law enforcement is more interested in who killed a deer out of season. Or who is screwing whose wife. They are sure not interested in investigating their own. It’s too dangerous.
