Completely credible story. I used to work for a magazine publishing house and a lady would come in every other day after lunch to pick up certain types of small printing to be run off in the mom-and-pop printing shop she and her husband owned.

She told me she got up very early every morning to do the typing and layout she had to do for the day's printing, and by 10 AM she had downed approximately 40 cups of black coffee (5 pots). I was privately shocked and disbelieving.

When I saw her last we chatted as she waited for her packet...and she told me that her urine was blackish brown and her skin was turning brown, but she couldn't quit the coffee addiction even though her hands shook so badly she was having increased trouble typing. She seemed really nonchalant about it all.

Then one day she stopped showing up for her pick-ups, and my editor boss told me she had been carted off to the hospital in bad shape, he didn't know what was wrong.....but I did.....and I never saw or heard about her again.
