Officers responded to the zoo which is located at 1801 E. Chestnut Ave. at around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday and discovered 37-year-old John William Rodenborn covered in mud, according to Cpl. Anthony Bertagna of the Santa Ana Police Department. He told them he was the fictional character Tarzan.
Before authorities arrived, a shirtless Rodenborn had allegedly attempted to get into the zoos bird exhibit before he tried to swing into the monkey exhibit, Bertagna said.
Kent Yamaguchi, the director of the zoo, told KTLA that the man was initially walking through the bird aviary, but then walked over to a tree outside the exhibit instead. The tree neighbors the enclosure where the zoos monkeys are kept.
Although he was on the back side of the monkey exhibit, the primates apparently never saw him.

Walk-away from a local mental health facility?
If he identifies as tarzan, then he is a tarzan
Excellent.
Anybody seen Bruised Gender today?
We have transracial Rachel, transexual Jenner, why not transfictional people too?
Too bad he didn’t get into the gorilla area.
Well, it’s California, so he could just be an aspiring actor looking to generate some buzz.
Bingo!
“why not transfictional people too?”
Well, in that case, call me Ishmael.
He’s now certifiable to vote in the democrat primary.
If he identifies as Tarzan, who’s to say he isn’t?
Call your local dentist.
Cheaper than a safari to Africa.
“Bruised Gender” LOLOL
This guy is every much Tarzan as Bruce is Caitlyn.
True story: our granddaughter is 4. Must have had her fill of Sesame Street, Snow White, and Disney Princess themed birthday parties. Told me on Friday that for her next birthday party, she wants “TarZAN” (strong emphasis on the ZAN) theme for next year’s. She said, “I think he’s cool.”
That right, Kemosabe.
Reminds me of the guy who jumped off of a monorail into the tiger den at the Bronx Zoo a couple of years ago. Wanted to be “one with the tigers.”
"Me Tarzan, you sane."
I stole your line on twitter. Well done. Well done.
