An interesting perspective. I like Trump, but I think Trump needs Cruz to guide him through a Conservative agenda and to provide a brilliant Constitutional legal mind in shaping policy.

Trump is performing an invaluable service to this country right now.

But Cruz is the guy.

I love Cruz, but if he cannot get above 4-6 percent soon, I don't think he will be the nominee.

I am VERY appreciative of how Trump is tearing the Left "a new one" (the media included), but he is not Presidential material in my opinion... and it is a very bad precedent to start electing the hyper-wealthy or TV celebrities for the most important singular job on Earth.

Sadly, celebrity is the most important thing to Americans, even Freepers. Cruz is one outlying bad poll away from not even being in next week’s debate. Hopefully he can hang on, but he needs to start distinguishing himself from the Donald soon. He is by far the better candidate, but he isn’t entertainment.

I don't like Trump and make no bones about it but that doesn't mean I don't see a role for him. Personally I would make him Ambassador to the UN. He would be a massive upward change from the marxist radical occupying the position now. (Samantha Power)

Too bad Cruz voted for ObamaTRADE.
Millions of people would have voted for him, first.
But, alas, he did not. He voted to allow
(not in the final vote where it did not matter)
a SECRET tyrannical Obama attack on the Constitution.

I know many who were screaming for him ... until then.

No question whatsoever Ted Cruz is the best man for the job. Probably also no question that he will not get the nomination, no matter how fervently we want it.

Donald Trump isn't everybody's favorite for good and credible reasons BUT he would be a far better president than any Democrat at all and all of the rest of the Republican field and any version of the current "president".

Simple, ain't it?

“Just the fact that he is such an egotistical hothead makes him a bad pick”

This is pretty weak. Egotistical hotheads don’t make for good multi billionaire mogul material.

Almost every account of personal interaction with Donald Trump has reflected a quieter, kind, personable, loyal and even keeled guy. Don’t get too fooled by the public persona.

Ted Cruz states his positions and stands by them. I may not always agree with them but at least I know that I won’t turn on the news one day and find out that Cruz is saying something now that is the polar opposite of what he said in the past. You can’t say that about any of the other candidates, especially Trump.

Methinks Trump is just using the primary as a platform for his own publicity & influence, but ultimately will bow out; he’s been meeting with Cruz to arrange the transition to a real political candidate.

I and others have been saying this over and over. To me, Cruz is the ideal conservative candidate. Better than Reagan in many ways. He is not that popular I’m afraid because Americans, even among those claiming to be conservative, because we simply don’t value character, integrity, honesty, respect and, yes, morality as much as we value kicking butts and taking names and getting revenge. Cruz is a true Constitutional scholar, he has argued cases before the Supreme Court, he would know how to guide our nation back to its roots. But we’d rather have fireworks and one-up-manship name calling, Saturday Night Live humor and bombastic egoism over serious, scholarly and honorable. Trump has done a great job of stealing the narrative from the left but his background weighs against him being a small government Constitutionalist. He’s a deal doer and a mover and shaker but most of that has been guided by the advantages it would bring to Donald Trump. He would likely break as many things as he fixed. Yes, it might be entertaining but would it leave our country in better shape. We have a better and proven candidate. Let’s get behind him!

I stand with Ted.

I find it interesting that Fox News does not include Cruz by name when they read poll numbers. He i their ‘other’. I will NEVER vote for Bush or Huckabee or rubio

Yes, Ted Cruz is a terrific guy, and a brilliant legal mind — who is unelectable. It’s Trump or Hillary. Or even worse...Bush.

Trump doesn’t seem like the kind of person who will act within the law to get things done – if he wants something done, he’ll get it done, and if he has the power of the Presidency behind him, well, the law be damned. President Obama set the precedent, and we can’t afford to allow that to continue.

Here's the thing: We know that Cruz would be a good president . No argument. But these kinds of arguments against Trump are stupid. Of COURSE Trump has had to play within the law. He's got thousands of people who would love to do nothing more then send him to jail. But he's not in jail. Why? This kind of stuff is just an opinion based on nothing.

You can argue about his solutions, but I think Trump’s love of this country cannot be questioned, and his general concern about where it is headed.

Think about it, why would a guy with that much money, fame and power, want to give it all up. POTUS is a step down for him, it certainly isn’t to stroke his ego, he gets plenty of stroking as it is.

No doubt that Ted Cruz is the real candidate, but Americans believe what the media told them and They won’t vote for Ted. Trump is most likely going to be a Trojan horse.

I have nothing to say bad about Cruz. Except he is a politician. Trump is a businessman and I believe we need a man like him in there. The man you see in the media is not the man he actually is.
I have tried voting for GOP conservatives only to be sadly disappointed.
