EVERYONE has been talking about Donald Trump lately. It seems that almost the entirety of election coverage has either been about the latest thing that Donald Trump said, or the media asking other candidates to react to the latest thing that Donald Trump said.
But heres the thing: regardless of how loudly or boldly Donald Trump is advocating for certain conservative issues, he would make a horrible president. Just the fact that he is such an egotistical hothead makes him a bad pick, but when you look at what the Democrats, particularly President Obama and those in his administration (oftentimes in collusion with Republican leadership in Congress) have done to Constitutional separation of powers, Donald Trump is probably the LAST person we need in the White House. He likes to throw his weight around, he insists on getting his way kind of like Barack Obama does when Congress opposes him on certain issues. Trump doesnt seem like the kind of person who will act within the law to get things done if he wants something done, hell get it done, and if he has the power of the Presidency behind him, well, the law be damned. President Obama set the precedent, and we cant afford to allow that to continue.
The Republican field is comprised of somewhere around one hundred and twenty-seven candidates. Its crowded on that stage, but the only real draw for Donald Trump that separates him from the rest of the pack is that he yells loudly and has obnoxious hair. The press is only obsessed with him because they know that, eventually, hes going to put his foot in his mouth. They watch him and talk about him constantly and ask other candidates for their opinion on his remarks for one and only one reason: they know that the Trump train will wreck, and they want to get it on film when it happens.
And then theres this: Video at Link
Heres the thing: Ted Cruz has been consistently fighting for conservatism for years. He hasnt waffled back and forth, he hasnt been donating to the Clinton slush fund. He is an eloquent defender of small-government conservatism, unafraid to engage progressives on their own turf even the progressives in the Republican Party. A lot of people like Trump because hes loud, but one of the problems with politics in America today is that its already too much of a shouting match. There is no need to take the worst aspects of our political system and kick it up a notch, not when we can bring some logic and maturity to fight the Lefts constant campaign against these things.
Simply by engaging with these Code Pink wackos for a few minutes, Ted Cruz laid out a logical, factual, respectful argument, and let the the other sides illogic speak for itself. Put Donald Trump in that same situation, and all you would get is a shouting match.
Ted Cruz is a man who understands history. He understands the law. He has the ability to engage in a clear-headed debate even with the rabid left-wing wackos of Code Pink.
And, on top of that, he can actually be presidential. This is something that has been missing from the Office of the President under Presidents Obama and Clinton, and it is something that would be sorely lacking should Donald Trump win the presidency.
So to all of the conservatives out there who are jumping on the Trump Train: I get it. It feels great to see someone loudly shouting in support of conservative political positions but do you know where Donald Trump stands on all of the important issues facing our nation these days? Do you really want a president who will, in all likelihood, continue President Obamas trend of violating Separation of Powers when he doesnt get his way or would you prefer to have a true conservative in office.
Cruz 500% increase H1b visas etc. is the last straw for him. I admire everything else about him but that and it will further erode the middle class.it is a total deal killer.
I and others have been saying this over and over. To me, Cruz is the ideal conservative candidate. Better than Reagan in many ways. He is not that popular I’m afraid because Americans, even among those claiming to be conservative, because we simply don’t value character, integrity, honesty, respect and, yes, morality as much as we value kicking butts and taking names and getting revenge. Cruz is a true Constitutional scholar, he has argued cases before the Supreme Court, he would know how to guide our nation back to its roots. But we’d rather have fireworks and one-up-manship name calling, Saturday Night Live humor and bombastic egoism over serious, scholarly and honorable. Trump has done a great job of stealing the narrative from the left but his background weighs against him being a small government Constitutionalist. He’s a deal doer and a mover and shaker but most of that has been guided by the advantages it would bring to Donald Trump. He would likely break as many things as he fixed. Yes, it might be entertaining but would it leave our country in better shape. We have a better and proven candidate. Let’s get behind him!
I stand with Ted.
I find it interesting that Fox News does not include Cruz by name when they read poll numbers. He i their ‘other’. I will NEVER vote for Bush or Huckabee or rubio
Polls at this time mean very little.....Newt was at less than 4% and then led by double digits twice (Dec 11 and Feb 12) - Bachmann was big at this point four years ago....Herman Cain led into Nov-Dec of four years ago....Santorum was no where at this stage....Rick Perry came in and led big for a week before imploding.....so so so so so many twists and turns to go......Cruz is doing well in three key areas: Fundraising, including more small donors than anyone....on the internet, which are your most well informed voters....and big money Super PAC support, who are also well informed and well armed.
We’re not even in batting practice, let alone the first inning. Don’t pack your bags yet.
Yes, Ted Cruz is a terrific guy, and a brilliant legal mind — who is unelectable. It’s Trump or Hillary. Or even worse...Bush.
Please name the candidate that hasn’t done or said something you don’t like.
Here's the thing: We know that Cruz would be a good president . No argument. But these kinds of arguments against Trump are stupid. Of COURSE Trump has had to play within the law. He's got thousands of people who would love to do nothing more then send him to jail. But he's not in jail. Why? This kind of stuff is just an opinion based on nothing.
You can argue about his solutions, but I think Trump’s love of this country cannot be questioned, and his general concern about where it is headed.
Think about it, why would a guy with that much money, fame and power, want to give it all up. POTUS is a step down for him, it certainly isn’t to stroke his ego, he gets plenty of stroking as it is.
Ted Cruz still supports Free Trade, but he does not support Obamatrade. When the TPP Bill comes up for vote, he will vote against it.
In the meantime, look at all the good thing Cruz has done and what he is still doing. No candidate is ever going to do everything any one individual thinks they should do, but Cruz has the highest Conservative rating of 100% for a good reason.

You are a complete liar, like McConnell.
Those are the facts, and I listened to Cruz
TWICE defending his initial support of SECRET ObamaTRADE.
The waffled between the two as to whether he
actually read in full the Agreement which
he was helping pass. He did not. It did pass.
Thanks for calming me down there. Trump is fun to watch, but I feel he is Dem light and his past dealings prove that.
Maybe Trump could appoint Cruz as Prime Minister. —
thank you for today’s installment of establishment talking points....I think, if I remember correctly, you’re doing this an awful lot.
Yeah, it's fun, but it's important and illustrative too....and yes, his past dealings should be put in perspective, but so few seem interested to do that. He has two very liberal moments in the last 72 hours....and crickets....
I'm gonna sit back and let this play out.....I think I'll keep a list of "told ya so" names. It's coming at some point.
