The above sentence is completely bass-ackwards. Not sure if it's a deliberate lie, but it's 180 degrees wrong. Areas under continental ice sheets are pressed down by the immense weight of the ice, and when the ice melts undergo a process called isostatic-rebound just like a cork bobbing in water up once you remove your finger holding it down. The effect is very measurable with modern geodesy techniques, and has been used along with moraines and other landforms to estimate paleo glacial thicknesses.
