I don't know if anyone else has been hit with this, but lately I've been getting a message every time I use Adobe Acrobat 10. It says,
"Acrobat detected that it is not properly licensed. You may have unknowingly bought a counterfeit copy."
Then it tells me to visit Adobe or call them. One problem with this error message. I BOUGHT THE SOFTWARE FROM ADOBE! Now they're telling me it's counterfeit. Just wow. I wondered if anyone else has had this happen to them, and if so how do I get this stupid popup message to stop appearing.
Thank you.
Contact Adobe. They will tell you what to do.
Adobe has some brilliant products. They are not great, however, with support long term. They really pressure customers into buying their never ending upgrades. IMO
What exactly did they say when you contacted Adobe support? Did they ask for your registration number or an invoice?
I’ve been upgrading since vers 6, but have had no problesm with 10. I think the last minor upgrade was a few months ago.
I haven’t called them yet. I was wanting to pick a few brains here on FR before doing so. I’d like to try and find the “off switch” so that the message goes away and I won’t have to call them.
Adobe 10 is the “pilot” program for the new integrity service according to the website. Other programs will be brought into the circle this year.
Part of the Adobe Genuine Initiative, the Software Integrity Service is a set of technologies, services and capabilities that can identify whether an installed Adobe product is genuine or non-genuine using a number of technical factors. The service includes a method to detect if software is non-genuine and a notification service (used for the first time with this pilot) to inform users that their software is not genuine, and to give them options to resolve the issue.
When did Adobe start distributing the Software Integrity Service?
Adobe started distributing the detection element of the Software Integrity Service in September 2014, limited to a small subset of Adobe products.

Granted, yes I know, the Internet is done in the cloud but that's by design. It has to be that way to operate. But I do not use Realplayer and Office 2013 because of the requirement of operating out of the cloud, and now possibly Acrobat could be get the axe as well. I've seen other PDF creation programs out there and it's possible I may have to convert to one of those.
I feel the exact same way about it. I hope you can get this resolved with Adobe.
[[That’s one of the big reasons I why I don’t use Office 2013. ]]
And that’s why I stopped updating their Creative Suit product at CS5 (could have gone to CS6 but didn’t)- their ‘cloud based product’ is now a giant money sucking monthy subscription service, and even worse is if you quit paying, you lose all the photos you’ve worked on during the subscription because of proprietary coding or something from what I’ve heard-
Nope- no thanks
What do you use Adobe 10 for, particularly?
Sorry - “Adobe Acrobat 10”.
Same here. I stopped at CS4. There’s no way I’m getting wrapped up in CS6, or anything beyond Acrobat 11 if I can ever afford that one.
It also comes in handy for remote deposits and it helps me when anyone asks me to turn something into a .PDF, .TIFF, .JPG, etc. I use it quite a bit, at home and work.
Any time a company starts talking in NLP - i.e. “ensuring care through positive support of essential integrated human centered feedback and understanding technologies designed to affirm the customer’s underlying needs and facilitate effective and timely response experiences” - they’re screwing you. Run!
Did you ever register the product? Adobe is very big on registering. If it phoned home and didn’t find a registration, it might explain the popup. It is then a very simple matter to get it running. Not sure why you don’t want to register since you will get support and free upgrades.
I use Foxit Reader because it's got half the RAM footprint that Adobe Acrobat has, and it isn't bugging me to update it constantly. Also freeware.
Satisfying. :)
Seems strange that you spent $900 (or whatever it now costs) to get Acrobat and you would rather not use it as opposed to registering. Are you sure you actually bought a licensed copy?
Tell me about it!
I guess I will never understand why you’d hand someone $900 for a RAM-sucking hog & nagware.
