I found a large collection of old TV guides while cleaning out the old family farmstead, many of which date from about the 1957-1960 era. What a fantastic time for TV back then (I grew up in the 1970s and 1980s and many shows from that era now look like “Masterpiece Theatre” compared to what is on now). I love seeing the Westerns that were on most nights of the week with the obvious ones like “Bonanza” and “Gunsmoke”, along with “The Texan”, “Maverick”, “Riverboat”, and “The Rebel”. The variety shows too must have been grand entertainment as well with Gleason and I would have loved to have watched the Dinah Shore Chevy Show and to have been able to have watched it in colour, as it was one of the first colour shows NBC made back then.
Johnny Yumah was a Rebel. I believe that was sung by Johnnie Cash.
Wow!!
They are probably worth something...or perhaps a museum would be interested. Actually...that is history...
Battery dying now... take care all.
Plus, I've made it my hobby to try and identify old character actors many of whom appeared in hundreds of westerns or other shows from that period.
