Not only is there no "ironclad proof" Thomas Jefferson fathered Sally Hemings' children, but the TH Heritage Society commissioned a research committee which concluded he was not.

So they say, but he wasn't even a suspect before the DNA evidence ruled out Peter and Samuel Carr. A lot depends on when Randolph Jefferson was at Monticello. Scholars dispute the dates, but the evidence doesn't look good for the theory that Randolph fathered Sally's children.
