Hayward is a scary place. I work there.

Hayward: Why is Hayward so scary? What kind of place is it?
I live a long way from California, so I don't know anything about Hayward.
Tell me the truth: does California have a serious illegal immigration problem? Thanks.
Just wondering: Is there any place in California that is NOT scary?
It seems to me that California has a lot of scary places, if I am to believe all the stories I have read about California the last few years. Thanks.

Bad location: Hayward is at the intersection of two major freeways. Everyone takes a shortcut through downtown Hayward to avoid freeway delays.
Bad planning: As a result, downtown Hayward has been turned into confusing array of six lane, one way avenues and intersections where cars speed through at 50 mph.
Low income: Lots of illegal aliens, crazy street people, trailer trash types, etc. Sorta like a ghetto. IMHO.
Bad reputation: CalIfornia State University Hayward changed its name to Cal State East Bay a few years ago. There is no there there.

Just wondering: Is there any place in California that is NOT scary?Yes, about 3/4 of the state which is rural and is mostly conservative. Very low crime in my area, only three murders here in the last 65 years. No armed robberies, no street crime, very few burglaries, just folks going about their own business.

Mission Viejo has low crime, as does Foster City.
Other than that, CA scares me.
