Time was that the owner would not have had to yell at anyone.
Time was that the parents would have had the brains and parenting skills to take the child outside until it calmed down. (or given her a darn pancake)
Time was that this notion of “whatever my child does is them discovering and defining themselves and they should be allowed to do that” would have raised eyebrows (at the very least.)
Time was that this would not have been nationally newsworthy.
Personally, I would have lit into the parents. No point in gently suggesting that they take the child outside. After 40 minutes of allowing their child to scream, it is painfully obvious that the so-called parents would not have taken a gentle suggestion without much huffing and puffing and claiming their progressive right to allow their screaming child to destroy every other patron’s meal.
Yup, I would have started right off with the “lighting into” the parents. Then I would have boxed their meal, told them it was on the house and showed them and their little darling the door.
I remember that. When did parents stop being parents?
