Haven’t read the whole thread but you don’t get it. This is a paradigm change.
We conservatives were looking at a typical (these days) American Presidential election. A radical enemy lib on the D side, and a socialist lite eunuch on the R side. Speaking for myself, I had decided that this time I would not be playing the lesser of the evils game and would sit aside and let Hillary win in the hopes of slowly killing off the GOP.
Trump in the race saying all the right things was exciting, just to have one candidate raise the bar for the mostly losers on our side. (Ted Cruz was beginning to be Palinized by the media so as much as I love his constitutional conservatism and brilliance, I didn’t think he stood a chance.)
At first that is all it was. He made the losers jump and yap like puppies behind him, and made media personalities gasp and shriek.
As he began to double down and keep talking truths that are never said by anyone else, we started to realize that four years of someone like that in the White House could put a wooden stake through the heart of political correctness and Rule by Media. (And if we dare to dream, could he bring Cruz aboard as Veep, increasing his chances of becoming president?)
Who else tells America that the media are lying idiots??? He is not kissing butt or beholden.
Having him as president EVEN IF HE IS SOCIALLY LIBERAL, yes, EVEN IF HE SAYS STUPID THINGS, would be better than Jeb or Hillary. That is the paradigm change. We need a political revolution. And even the more normal democrats see this need. They will be on board saying no to the dual headed Statist Party we have now. We could kill the corrupt system for a few decades.
Do you get it? You and your questions are choosing which buggy whip will most motivate your horse on the road. We are looking at a motor car. (Post political correctness, actual truth in politics is the motor car, not Trump himself.)
That sounds really romantic and swashbuckling and exciting, but it's completely off target.
Trump is more than a social liberal.
He supports universal health care.
He is a big eminent domain guy, and has twice tried to snatch the property of landowners for his own personal profit.
He believes in raising taxes on upper income earners.
He said that the economy does better under Democrats than Republicans.
So make no mistake, electing Trump would be a disaster, because you would be electing a textbook Democrat---might as well go for Hillary or Jeb and be honest about it.
Not to mention Trump is simply unsuitable for the office of president. The other day he was on Twitter yelling about kicking someone's a##.
Then there's his 2006 appearance on "The View", where he talked about his daughter's nice figure and said he would probably date her if he wasn't her father.
Is that the statesman you want in the Oval Office? I sure as hell don't.
