My sympathies go out to this bride and her husband. That is not the way to start married life, having to deal with stolen money and stolen identity.
I never trust the hotel staff. They have keys to your room and the opportunity. They know when you leave. Not all hotel employees are thieves of course, but all is takes is one.

Never, never, NEVER leave valuables in a hotel room. Don’t think you can hide them - hotel staff know all the hiding places. She should have given her purse to a trusted friend to guard. That’s what bridesmaids are for.
