Also, the one I'm talking about had two bays to the right of the section shown in that picture. It cost almost $50K new, although I guess it had some extras.
I know it had 4096 words of core memory. The words were 12 bits long too, plus a parity bit.

I worked with a guy (Zeke) who started his career assembling core memory. He said he had to find something else to do as assembling core memory was "mind numbing" work.
He became the chief draftsman for our end of a joint venture with Sperry/Vickers.
We were good friends and I still miss him, he died young.
