“hazardous river conditions”? What, whitecaps? Sharks? This article is very vague as to the specifics as to the problem. And how does one have a regatta without boats?

The amount of rain we’ve had the past 2 weeks has been insane. There have been numerous flash floods, severe thunderstorms, there were threats of flooding certain near water level parking lots etc.

The rivers are as high as they usually are after the spring thaw and at that point they are actually quite dangerous for any recreational boating. Some of it due to water flow rates and levels, it’s also a potential debris issue and numerous branches being in the water from all the tributaries to the rivers.

I’ve never seen it cancelled but I’ve never seen as much rain as we’ve received in June either. They wouldn’t have done this lightly, you don’t tell 300,000 people that the boat races aren’t going to take place without good reason.
