"a conflict between two majority Christian armies that, in the general way of war, valued wealth and power above love and unity"
What an ignorant statement. If the Founders valued wealth and power they would of stayed with the Crown because for the most part the Founders were the elite of Colonial America.
On the other hand....
My best friend says on a daily basis he see’s no reason to celebrate the 4th of July as he believes American citizens are nothing more than pawns to the powers that be. Just look at the recent Supreme Court decisions and tell me he’s wrong.
I won’t really celebrate July 4th until the Neo-Communists are out of the White House.
Well, bless your heart darlin’. We’ll stop in and check on you from time to time.
Bonnie, you really should try to grow up and act like a real American.
The 4th of July has become the saddest day of the year for me.
We seem doomed to plunge into a long, bloody dark age before we see the like of the Founders’ USA again.
It seems that every year there’s less freedom to celebrate....
The 4th is like Christmas to me. A day that has little relation to its origin, and is more of an annoying disruption than a day to celebrate anything.
Last night I was watching the old wartime musical comedy “Star Spangled Rhythm” (1942). The closing bit had Bing Crosby singing a patriotic number with a large Old Glory waving behind him. Now that was the America I’d pledge my allegiance to.
America-2015? This sick, depraved nation that is now so degenerate that it equates two perverted faggots as the same as a married husband and wife? To hell with it!
Funny I am kind of mentally numb these days watching the destruction of classical America and American culture on a hourly basis. I really don’t celebrate anything anymore and I really don’t get down about much either. It is like my body naturally producing Haldol to keep me semi sane.
Some good points.
The consequences of not winning the Revolution might not have been all that horrible. We might have wound up as a really, really big Canada.
There are much worse fates.
As several Loyalists, and I believe even Franklin, pointed out, if the colonies stayed with Britain their influence in the Empire would inevitably increase as the balance of population, wealth and power shifted. We’re a continent, UK is a couple of islands.
