I’ve never understood song packrats.
I mean 100,000 songs. Isn’t that about 200 straight days of music? As if you can ever buy or even know that many songs.
Probably about that. I have 17405 songs on my computer (not including way too many Christmas tunes that I keep segregated). According to my music program that is 46 days 8 hours and 12 minutes of music. So, my personal music collection is a little over 17% of that total. I don't even have that large a library compared to some folks I know. Not to mention the fact that I still haven't replicated all the albums I had when I was younger.
I've been collecting music since the early 1970s and for several decades, I added 3-5 full albums to my collection every week. It's just my thing, I guess. Some people collect stamps. Others collect bottle caps. Still others collect matchbox covers and silly stuff like that.
I collect music.
My Christmas collection alone comprises some 15,000 tracks. I'm a fanatic for Christmas music and collect all kinds including Christmas albums from such unlikely sources as The Partridge Family and Bob Dylan.
I'm not sure what to think about the fact that I can now virtually own millions of tracks just by paying a $10 monthly fee to stream whatever I want.
I still think it's better to own as otherwise, I'd be locked into that monthly fee which could very well rise significantly once they get enough people hooked into it. I like the security of being able to unplug from the internet and still have access to all my music.
