Now that same-sex marriage is legal nationwide, religious conservatives are focusing on preserving their right to object. Their concerns are for the thousands of faith-based charities, colleges and hospitals that want to hire, fire, serve and set policy according to their religious beliefs, notably that gay relationships are morally wrong.
The Republican Party’s 2016 presidential candidates are already campaigning on the issue. And Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is urging President Barack Obama and the nation’s governors “to join me in reassuring millions of Americans that the government will not force them to participate in activities that violate their deeply held religious beliefs.”
The religious liberty fight isn’t about what happens inside the sanctuary. First Amendment protections for worship and clergy are clear. Potential conflicts could arise, however, over religious organizations with some business in the public arena. That category ranges from small religious associations that rent reception halls to the public, to the nation’s massive network of faith-based social service agencies that receive millions of dollars in government grants. Some groups, such as the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, also want protections for individual business owners who consider it immoral to provide benefits for the same-sex spouse of an employee or cater gay weddings. …

It wasn’t that long ago that pols were focused on protecting traditional marriage and defending religious liberty. Now they are bending over....backwards for the sodomites.
Need to get all the democrats on record - especially those running for office in 2016 - saying that they defend religious liberty.

There is no law preventing a company from firing employees that are against same-sex marriage, is there?
No, and there are some companies out there that already have a social policy that says if you say something online or in public that you can be fired for it.
If we had a real media instead of the journalistic equivalent of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” they’d be asking every democratic (and republican) candidate that question.

This is just another distraction. The Supreme Court is guilty of usurping powers but the political class is too cowardly to take them on - impeachment, conviction and reversal. Some politicians love the Supreme Court for all the power it has given them and will never fight. So the media strategy now, knowing the cowardly politicians are what they are, is to claim victory for gay marriage and make us worry about religious freedom.
Gay marriage has been marketed, like cereal or blueberry muffins. All TV shows now have a gay character. It’s hard to compete with something that’s packaged as “cool”
It's called not being forced under penalty of law to celebrate sin.
349 copro-rations tried to influence the Supreme Court and were ready to celebrate. No telling how hard they’ve been lobbying politicians.
Wasn’t that long ago when sodomy was against the law. And now it is the way gays consummate their marriages. And now there is Constitutional protections for this act, and no protections for traditional marriage. Go figure. Semper Fi
