Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Windflier. I think a lot of us are having similar feelings. My family and I live in California, but I’m a native Texan, and I’m starting to wonder if we shouldn’t move back now rather than waiting until retirement.

I feel very socially isolated here in California. Just tonight, I skipped a monthly games night, held at a friend’s house, that I usually go to, because I knew I couldn’t hear all their crowing about “gay pride” without wanting to take someone’s head off. And I’m sick to death of hearing casual references to “evil Republicans” among acquaintances here. It’s very wearing.

It must be pretty dreary in CA these days for someone not “One with the Borg”.

That’s one of the things I find true about these times; the social isolation. Even here in Texas, we avoid the “Urban/Metro” areas at all costs. As a white haired, old, (62) white man, I feel like a target everywhere I go. We avoid public gatherings and places and when we do venture out I find we don’t say much anymore. (by we I mean my wife and I). Its weird; but in the cities, the “creep” factor is off the charts. I sense that “the others” operate from certain presumptions about me/us because of who we are based upon our race and age. On a few occasions, at restaurants for example, I’ve noticed we are slow served, or not served at all.

The worst part however, is that I suspect its going to get a lot worse. Sad times indeed.

I am in California also, I work in a very large grocery chain in management. I have started to become very out spoken with my views and have engaged MANY of our customers in conversation, I have been absolutely AMAZED at how many of them feel the same way!!!!! Do not despair MANY, MANY people in CA. are FED UP!!!!!! you would NEVER know this from the press and how our state government has turned liberal
but I think the immigration situation here is FINALLY starting to awaken the masses!!!!! Companies are fleeing this state, water situation is critical and governor moonbeam is focused on bullet train believe me MANY, MANY folks here are mad as hell I still have hope, as depressed as I am over this last week, you can only push people so far and they WILL push back, even in the great LIBERAL state of California!!!!!!
