Two high school students, Sum Ming Wong and Kin Pong Li, both living in Hong Kong have designed and built a door handle that kills germsSeriesly?

"Sum Ming Wong"
Isn't he the cousin of the pilot (Sum Ting Wong) who crashed a plane at SFO recently?

We are going to be in a world of hurt as a species if we don’t let our immune system do its job.
Get dirty....let your kids get dirty. This sanitary hand lotion thing is crap.
More sissification of America.

That is an EXCELLENT idea. I did not know that TIO2 had antimicrobial qualities. Pair that up with some (or a bunch of) UV LED’s, and we’re germ free!
Now, expand this idea to include every surface in a bathroom or an operating room. This is the innovation that I like to see.

Might as well live inside a bubble if you’re afraid of a few germs.

Interesting....along this line, I get the thrill of having a colonoscopy in two weeks, so wifey and I have both decided that when I get home, I’ll take a Culturelle probiotic to get some good cooties moving around the guts again.

I can think of one very application for this; cruise ships.
You know - the floating Norovirus palaces Something like this, while not completely eliminating the threat, might lower it a bit.
Congrats to Sum Ming Wong and Kin Pong Li.

Since Titanium Dioxide is used as a paint and FOOD coloring, they could paint the whole ship with it and put UV lights everywhere...............

Tarnished (or shiny but unlaquered) brass is very germicidal and much less complex.
It may not be quite as effective as this though.
