A nine-year-old boy who has wished he is a puppy since he was just two-years-old is preparing to go to obedience school as a dog.
Joseph Hughes, from Rhyl, north Wales, asked for a dog collar for Christmas and stays on his leash when out with mum Sam, 41, as he makes the transition to becoming alter-ego, Spot.
The youngster has been playing with chew toys and lifting his leg whenever he is near a tree after showing his canine side as a toddler.
Proud mother-of-six Sam backed little Joseph when he asked for a doggie dish and chew toys for his birthday.
She first noticed that Joseph wished to be a puppy when he turned his back on playing football with his boy friends in favour of chasing sticks in the park.
Sam said: ‘He’s a bright boy and his school grades are all good but he’s a real doggie-dog and doesn’t like football or anything like that.
‘Joseph is the one who has made this choice.
‘If I’d have dressed him up as a puppy from the start then he wouldn’t have had a clue - but all this has come from him and I just let him get on with it.
‘Some days he’ll come home from school and put a dog collar on, some days it’ll be a t-shirt and jeans.
‘It’s easier for him to wear a dog collar and chew on bones when he’s indoors at the moment because he can still get a little embarrassed when someone notices his doggie breath.
