LOS FELIZ, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A man attempting to flag Los Angeles police officers down with his arm wrapped in a towel was shot in the head Friday in Los Feliz.
The man was shot at about 6:35 p.m. on Los Feliz Boulevard and Tica Drive. He was allegedly raising his arm wrapped in a towel, possibly holding a gun.
"The officer exited the vehicle and quickly said, 'Drop the gun, drop the gun,'" LAPD Lt. John Jenal said.
Moments later, the officer opened fire.
It was unclear if the man had a gun, but the officers believed the man had a gun, Jenal said.
The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
As part of the investigation, Los Feliz Boulevard was expected to be shut down from Griffith Park Boulevard to Hillhurst Avenue until Saturday morning.
It’s one thing to be jittery. It’s another to shoot an innocent individual.
How is it logical to shoot someone who is unarmed, drawing attention to themselves, and with one arm raised above their head?
If the fellow was in the military, he’d be courtmartialed, and yet *you’d side with him*?
Where is the logic in that?
If it’s ever unclear if a shooting victim had a gun, that’s police speak for “He didn’t have a gun”.
That’s why they carry throwdowns.
Better yet...Be holding an infant with the other arm...Lets that FBI training to kick in...
If they had a throwdown, there would have been a line to the effect of “a gun was found near the suspect”
If a man came running toward you, one hand in the air, wrapped in a towel, and the man was drawing attention to his approach and apparent need for assistance, what about that behavior says “I intend to ambush you.”
The whole *point* of an ambush is that the target doesn’t see it coming until it is too late.
EMT advice from the 1980’s: “if you suffer a serious cut to the hand or wrist, wrap injured limb in towel, elevate injured limb, seek help.”
Oops.
They shoot the UNARMED guy in the head, then while he is lying on the ground bleeding they callously roll him over and cuff him. Protect and Serve?! With help like this...
I’m sorry, but they are freaking out of control.
Marina Del Rey was not a good neighborhood in the 70’s.
