Most scrappers (like myself) are hobbyists... hoping to refine their process down to a point that makes it more lucrative.

Now see, that's where I'd like to get. I don't have any illusions of riches or anything, but as it happens I do have access to multiple junk pc's , etc.

I like the idea of selling it off as scrap without refining it myself, but think it might be kinda cool to be able to do so. Is there a big investment in equipment to smelter this stuff down?

I’ve seen it done with household equipment and stuff you can buy at Wal-Mart/Lowes/HomeDepot.

Again, it depends on the volume your after.

For you and I, there are some relatively cheap ways you can do it... but there are also some risks involved with using acids or smelting foundries... so I would say the biggest expense is going to be in safety equipment.

You-Tube is LOADED with all sorts of How-To videos on this... I’ve been watching them extensively.
Right now, I’m focusing on efficiency of breaking down and separating components. I’ll worry about refining when I have enough to make it worthwhile.
