While adulteration is different than this case, you'd think that antifreeze would be detectable in wine, right? In 1985, Austrian wine was adulterated with diethylene glycol for sale in Germany. After it was detected, many went to jail and the Austrian Wine industry took years to recover! This was not a case of better living through chemestry!
