Guess most everyone I knew when I was growing up would have been jailed and the keys thrown away. Every Sunday morning we would catch three chickens, grab them by their neck and swing them around until the head separated from the chicken, let the remains flop a while and then dunk it in a tub of boiling hot water so we could pluck them.
Wonder if these folks ever wondered where the saying “Running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off” came from.

I worked on a egg farm back in the late 1960s/early 1970s. We would separate the roosters from the hens and put the roosters in cages,fatten them up and on a Saturday morning cut off the heads,let them flop and bleed out,sometimes one would get up and run about a hundred feet or so. Then the dipping in the hot,hot water so the feathers came off easier. We would throw the rooster entrails into the coop and the chickens would eat them up like a NIght of The Living Dead movie. It was a farm and the animals were livestock.
What our people did was out of the necessity born of living close to the land.
What these people did was the marker of a crude and barbaric culture that gets enjoyment from the suffering of others.
Wait: we ARE talking about Mexicans here, aren't we?
