McLennan County District Attorney Speaks on Deadly Brawl [For Waco background]
KCEN-TV ^ | May 21, 2015

McLennan County District Attorney Abel Reyna addressed the deadly brawl for the first time on Wednesday.

Reyna was at the scene with law enforcement on Sunday which is unusual. District attorneys and prosecutors don't normally get involved in the working of a scene, but Reyna says this one was definitely an exception.

Reyna's office has been assisting Waco police and the McLennan County Sheriff's Office in any way it can.

Reyna says it is still very early in the investigation.

Once the investigation is complete and all of the evidence is processed, Reyna says Waco PD will provide his office with reports on each of the individuals arrested. At that time, prosecutors will be able to be make certain charging decisions, add additional charges if necessary and do what they need to do to ensure justice is done.

"Based upon the evidence that we had at the time; based upon the scene; based upon the amount of weapons; based on what had occurred up until that point, I'm very very confident in the probable cause affidavit that supported the arrest warrant of all of these individuals. Period," Reyna said.

Each of the 172 individuals arrested has been charged with engaging in organized criminal activity.

For background as to what the DA said he was going to do and discussion on what he has actually done.

I had not known that he came to the scene of the crime on 5/17.

“Each of the 172 individuals arrested has been charged with engaging in organized criminal activity.”

If this is the criteria, why is Al Sharpton not arrested for each and every time he shows up on a scene?

Based upon recent history (last couple of decades) why doesn't Reyna immediately arrest every single Muslim for participating in / supporting organized crime in the form of terrorism? They've only perpetrated 20,000+ attacks or so... What's it take Reyna? Going to apply your law, your standards evenly?

Man jailed 83 days extra after McLennan DA fails to notify of dropped charges

A Waco man is deciding if he will sue the county because he was wrongfully detained for 83 days after the district attorney’s office declined his case for prosecution but failed to notify the McLennan County Jail. Damion Wayne Evans, 33, stayed in the county jail with no other charges pending against him for almost three months after the district attorney’s office declined to prosecute him on a tampering with physical evidence charge.

“I was being extremely safe,” Jarrett said. “I inspected the gun even after I was told it was not loaded...”

Both of those statements cannot be true.
