NASCAR’s most popular driver is getting married.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. proposed to girlfriend Amy Reimann while on the couple was vacationing Wednesday in Germany.
Earnhardt popped the question in a Lutheran church that he tweeted his family had attended seven generations and 300 years ago. Reimann shared the engagement via a Twitter post featuring a picture of them inside the church.
"I'm completely overwhelmed with love & joy," Reimann tweeted. "Happiest girl in the world! I love you so much @DaleJr."
With the Sprint Cup Series off this week, Earnhardt and Reimann and his sister and brother-in-law traveled to Germany to research the Earnhardt family's lineage. Also along is Martin Friedrich, an information technology specialist at JR Motorsports, Earnhardt's Xfinity and Camping World Truck Series team. Friedrich, a native of Germany, is acting as a tour guide for the two couples.
"I got some specific towns that we're going to go visit that we understand that my ancestors are from," Earnhardt said after a second-place finish Sunday at Michigan International Speedway. "I've been searching my genealogy for about five years now and I made a promise to myself then that I would go to Germany and understand more about my ancestors when I turn 40, so here I am.
"I'm real nervous about flying over there. I haven't flown commercial since 9/11, so it's been a long time. My friends tell me I'm in for a treat. Hopefully it's just a good trip."

I knew this was coming a while back when She wasn’t at a Race and JR made the comment that “Amy is back home working on OUR New House”.
It was just a matter of WHEN.
For his wedding, it will be a Mountain Dew themed party. Of course, if his name was John Smith, he would be out of NASCAR, since he’s not his father.
Now he must go forth and produce a male prodigy named Dale Earnhardt #3 for the family's racing pedigree to continue to flourish.
Being a Ford guy I was not an Earnhardt fan. But this kid is likeable for me. I find myself rooting for him since Roush has gone AWOL.
