I believe there are ongoing tests of facial recognition software at Arizona State University football games. The amusing thing is that they quickly learned that colored face paint utterly confuses recognition, so, using the excuse of racial sensitivity, they have banned anyone wearing face paint from entering the stadium.
The amusing irony is that facial recognition just doesn’t seem to be any more possible than is telepathy, divining rods, or an honest Democrat politician.
Facebook will “suggest” which of your friends should be tagged in photos you upload (before you’ve even said yes, they are sometimes autotagged).
And this isn’t for block upload of images from “the same” event you have already recently tagged people in.
I’ve been told that the higher end face scanners don’t look at color or the like. It looks for face composition so that even a mustache or other disguise can still be detected. Casinos have had them for a long time.
