I thought Duggar posts had been banned on Fr.
Perfect people do have obsessions like chickens when blood is drawn. We in the sinner ranks rarely have such opportunities to have those above the rest in our midst. I am glad you and many of your cohorts have exposed your primary colors.
She needs to face a nuclear hammer of Civil/Criminal litigation. That is an obvious abuse of power.
I do not know if your statement is true, but let's say it is. Do you think this girl is feeling victimized by the fact that so many people know about this now?
Do you think his sisters feel victimized that the public has been made aware of their shame?
The story behind the story.
This is how I see it. The current and immediate crime is what those in authority did to abuse their power. What happened nearly a decade ago among minors is not *THE ISSUE* we should be focusing on.
I very much doubt a juvenile court would have done much different from what happened. Does anyone think they would have put a 14 year old in Jail for fondling his sisters?
Like it or not, I see these people as being on our side of the political divide, and the people who made this public being on the other.
The nature of war is such that you must enact vengeance upon your enemies to discourage attacks in the future. I never heard of the Duggars before last week, but an example needs to be made of the people on the other side who wrecked their lives and careers.
As Sean Connery said:
"He pulls a knife, you pull a gun, he sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue." ..
I would like to see calls for the heads of officials who did this malicious thing. Though she may be retired, she can still be prosecuted. She needs to be prosecuted for malicious abuse of office.
I don't think she can get away with it. I think there can be civil penalties against her for what she did, and in a sane world, Criminal penalties.
And you are advocating we toss out the long standing principle of not holding minors accountable for acts committed while they were minors?
I just want to make sure we all agree on what the rules are supposed to be. Should minors be tainted forever with acts committed while minors?
I want to hear your opinion on this, because it has been a long standing principle of our Juvenile legal system that they should not.
I’m jaded. I’ve seen too many low level public servants get away with abuse of power.
Yeah, you ever heard of Barack Obama's opponent for the US Senate seat from Illinois? His name was Jack Ryan.
Releasing documents illegally is par for the course for our political opponents.
I say it's long past time that they get their fingers burned.
The law cannot do that prior to the fact. The law can most certainly prevent further abuse by publicity AFTER THE FACT.
You are complaining far too much about what the law could not do, and not complaining at all about what the law *COULD DO.*
Thanks for the info.
The rumors have been around for a long, long time. And now, all of a sudden, the press becomes interested in investigating them? The coincidence is just too timely.
He was 14 when he molested his 11 and 10 year old sisters.
He was 15 when he molested his 5 and 8 year old sisters.
I know. I really do not understand the absolute hatred some on here have for them. I quit reading threads by a certain poster because of that. I do not know a single perfect person. We do not understand why certain things happen but God does and that is the only thing important.
Religious does not mean saved.
Aren’t juvenile records sealed? Shouldn’t this police chief go to prison for releasing these?
Sadly, reading comprehension and math skills appear to NOT be some posters' strong points.
Even at 15, he was still a minor and none of this should have been made public now!
Even with redacted names, it is extremely easy to figure out which sisters he touched ( which NOBODY is condoning ! ), because most articles list all of the family members birthdays...hence outing the victims!
I too gave up reading the newer threads, but this one has actual facts/new info, so I read it and posted to it.
I don't get the absolute hatred either.
According to Jim Bob’s TV interview he had turned 14. The age at which he molested the baby sitter is unknown but it is known that he molested the 5 and 8 year old sisters at age 15.
Here’s the deal, if he molested at 13, confessed at 14 and kept molesting until 15, what’s the difference?
A 13 year old molester to me seems more deeply troubled.
But a 15 year old molesting his 5 and 8 year old sisters is tough to swallow also.
Either way it’s sad.
Sorry for the original private reply, meant to answer on the thread. Just wasn’t paying attention.
