In the animated series, they had Gorn students at Star Fleet Academy. I don’t know who had the post in the animated series, but Ray Walston had a pivotal role to play in the movies.
The animated series also had some “Devil in the Dark” students, who could move through solid rock as easily as we move through air.
No relation to Timmy, of course.
