So how was your Day Camp, all things considered?
I’ve never worked a Monday before. It was a bit chaotic! But all things considered, all the boys made it to a variety of fun activities. I’m working with a man who’s supposed to be the “leader,” because he’s there all week while I’m off Wednesday because April-the-babysitter has to go to a Shakespeare rehearsal. She’s only the 4th Gentlewoman of whatever it is, but even spear-carriers have to make every practice unless someone died. This gave me the opportunity to have a choir practice on Wednesday and go the Post Office.
But anyway, the man is a new leader, hasn’t led a Den in real life yet or worked day camp. He waits for me to take charge, which is fine. I just hope he gets a tough mom to help him out on Wednesday.
It was “only” 97 today, but supposed to be hotter tomorrow. This is okay as long as we all keep pouring water down. It’s much worse to have it storming and 150 kids plus adults trapped in the dining hall.
Now I’m working on editing and translating a speech for the upcoming church retreat, for one of our Mexican ladies. The content is great - she’s a very spiritual lady - so most of the “edit” is just getting pieces in the correct order. I’ll give her the draft back tomorrow - fortunately she lives nearby - probably with a nudge to “tell us more about *this* - and have it in shape for her to present at our meeting Saturday morning.
