The cause of an early morning fire north of San Diego was an electrocuted bird falling from an active power line
A bird carrying a snake in its talons struck power lines north of San Diego, sparking a hillside fire just west of The Merge.
San Diego Police arrived to the location on Dunhill Street near the intersection of Interstates 5 and 805 just before 6 a.m.
Flames were burning very close to businesses including the General Atomics building, officials said.
Officers called in San Diego Fire-Rescue crews who contained the fire within an hour.
Fire officials initially told NBC 7 a bird with a snake in its mouth was electrocuted on a power line and fell to the ground, sparking the fire. A photo released by officials later shows the snake in the hawk's grasp.
"A hawk that hit the high voltage power line, caught fire, and fell to the ground," SD Fire-Rescue spokesperson Lee Swanson said in a written release.
There were no structures damaged and no evacuations ordered.
This area of San Diego is home to many companies in the region's biochemical industry.
I just called the diagnostic center about a copy of my MRI. Thankfully, I don’t have to go all the way into LV for a CD of the MRI for my appointment in August.
I will plan on going in the morning, since I have more gas than money, and will stop as the doctor’s office for copies of my X-Rays. If I wait, I won’t have the gas to do it. It will be a relief to get the results without a lot of song and dance.
Even as humid as it is outside, my clothes are almost dry. YAY! That means I don’t have to duck them when I go in and out of the bedroom and bathroom. Nevada! What a state!

Tom, Elen, and Sally are going to a party tonight, but we had Tom drive Bill to work, and they’ll pick him up afterward. It’s so convenient having him work so nearby.
My neighbor the ex-Greyhound driver just stopped in with a case of Ensure, which I have never had. He got it when he was so sick and his diet so restricted.
He looks good and said that since he has been on dialysis, his kidney output is much better, so that’s good news, but he probably won’t be back here in his apartment until September, as he has to have the port taken out of his chest. He needs someone to help him bathe so he doesn’t get the wound wet.
It was good to see him again.
I will warn you that TeamViewer might not work. We’ll have to switch to DameWare or something similar.
Anyway, if you stick with running your applications and using the window-based tools like a file manager you’ll be right at home. You’d have trouble trying to switch from the old DOS command line to the new Linux command line, but hopefully you weren’t dealing with keyboard-driven commands.
Side note: I worked for IDG for a while. They originally used the “for dummies” moniker while getting the books ready for publication with the expectation that marketing would come up with something better. It was believed nobody would buy a book for themselves that had “for dummies” in the title.
It’s one of the most successful book lines ever launched.
Go figure.

Glad you had a visitor! My father used Ensure for several years. Sometimes Mom would make it into milkshakes with ice cream. He was always very fond of ice cream.
It’s sort of like an Instant Breakfast - extra nutrients in an easy-to-take form.

I thought I heard a kerblacht out in the courtyard fighting with a drone while was checking out the cookies.
If it makes you feel better, the drone wasn’t sounding too good.
Since I’m not going to be switching the OS until I fully understand how it functions, I won’t worry about the TeamViewer, just yet.
I’m still having a slight problem with this thing, but I don’t know if it’s the computer or the website, but it’s not critical, just a nuisance.
I learned DOS years ago, and somewhere, I have all my notes and the book I had in class, so sometimes, I think of that...when I have to do the HTML posts.
I have always been a fan of the “For Dummies” books!
This stuff is vanilla flavored and I’m thinking it’s going to taste more like vitamin-flavored vanilla. *blech*
We just stood outside in the shade and talked. He repeated the fact that he was still interested in me, but I told him I wasn’t ready to entertain thoughts of someone else in my life, just yet. My emotions are still pretty raw and close to the surface and he seems to understand that. Which is good.

By the time I get back from my two errands in the morning, the pharmacy at Walmart will be open and I can get my prescriptions.
August is in the middle of the monsoon season, and I’m thinking it may be a good time for ortho to see me...all that inflammation from the weather.
It looks like neck surgery is next in line.
I always make a LOT of chocolate chip cookies for Moving Day! In the winter, of course, I serve hot cocoa with or without some rum for Moving Day. It’s such a gala occasion!

In other local news, I’m starting to get the feeling that Kathleen’s going to be a Slytherin, like Tom. When I went to get her up from her nap, she told me, “I want the blue blanket.” I looked around and saw that the blue was out of the wash, so I said, “Sure, you can have it.”
Then she got this look on her face, a sparkly expression of evil delight, as if she was thinking, “Look, I just made you do what I want, again.”
And in other, other news, Bill said he’s plans to apply for a job with Amazon in Luxembourg when he graduates. He sorta speaks French.
On top of the fridge looking bothered upon being spotted?

Well, fancy that...Bill working for Amazon in Luxembourg. What an idea. I wonder how long that will last? I mean, what is the longest he has kept a job? Especially when he is so very adept at being elusive when anything like “work” is mentioned.
Just pondering. No offense meant.
The washing machines here are not very efficient, though they are supposed to be. My white clothes suffered the worst because I had more of them. So maybe I will have to wash every week, now...two small loads instead of two medium loads.
One thing is for sure .. I will buy a roll of quarters tomorrow.
I must be fair to Bill - in his actual paid employment, he has been punctual, diligent, and well-regarded by his coworkers. (Also sober and doesn’t steal.) I don’t know how his potential skill-set as a graduate matches up with Amazon’s requirements for an entry-level marketing position in Luxembourg, but if he got there, he’d probably be fine at it and charm some Luxembourgese girls with his southern French accent.
Some of the younger children haven’t taken the Hogwarts test. I’m sure it was accurate for Tom, and Anoreth and Bill were both Gryffindors. Not sure about Sally. Vlad’s another candidate for Slytherin, the sneaky little devil.
Now that the guy who wrote “Headless Body in Topless Bar” had passed, this should be take the best headline honors!
Ah. So Bill’s work ethic away from home is exemplary! Good! It will no doubt stand him in good stead when he applies for work abroad. It may actually be a very good experience for him. :o]
