Yes, agreed, but there seems to be something about corn that encourages weight gain.

Even in the 30's a zaftig (or larger) gal was often described as "corn fed".

I wonder whether there are observable differences due to corn consumption in parts of the world where corn has been introduced, such as parts of Italy in which polenta is the staple starch dish.
