oh, yeah! Someone waiting with transportation, changes of clothing, passports, multi states’ drivers licenses, lots of cash ... you name it. I would imagine the initial move after coming out of the manhole cover was a quick trip across the border OR, better yet, hiding in plain sight.

If they could plan and execute this elaborate an escape using those power tools, their helper(s) could easily have simultaneously dug a hangout under their home near the prison. Lay low for a few weeks/months. Then with a changed appearance, do a zig zag out of town and out of the country. Buh Bye. Oh, and Have a Nice Day!

These huge old facilities are constantly undergoing construction to maintain plumbing, electric or whatever. On my old job, back in the 80’s or early 90’s, we had an inmate turn in a ring of keys that could open all the major buildings and security gates for the whole joint. He found them in the main yard and turned them in. My partner who was a Local union official, put the keys in our locker, to see how long it would be before the alarm went out. We waited a month and nothing happened. Nobody reported missing keys ! True story.
