Remember the man who loved grizzlies and they ate him. That's not fair, he did a lot of incredible work. Okay, yeah, granted, in the end he got et. But before that he proved dozens of times, for years, that grizzlies have a communication code of dominance and obedience, and if it's followed they'll let people near them safely. If he was taken seriously, his research could help save lives. Instead all anyone talks about us when he screwed up. Hey, it was dangerous work in an unknown field. When test pilots die, no one says their work was worthless. /rant
” I love you bear!” Chomp Chomp Chomp. My cynical treatment of animal lovers is their apparent total inability to realize large predators are dangerous. Most of us have lived so long in cities we forget about the danger posed by large animals. The hippo is more dangerous than the lion. Giraffes bite. Common sense has fled. I have a tough time sympathizing with the death of people consciously placing themselves in dangerous proximity to wild animals.
