A couple of years later I did it again, except with a young fiance that I met when she was vacationing in California, from Wales.

The weather was milder that time, and the experience was very different, it was weird since we barely knew each other, and it got rough when the truck was a week late, and we ran out of food, but being a sweet innocent girl with no outdoor experience, or having ever seen a gun, she picked up some new experiences.

One experience was at the end, when the truck finally showed up, and I had to take a pistol away from the driver, whose instructions were to get the load, and return for us 3 days later (which I knew wouldn’t happen), we then drove a few hundred miles without gas money and not enough gas, and no lights, because the alternator or something went out, and we had me climbing out of the cab to go back to hold a flashlight sometimes, as a tail light. That entire drive was an experience that she won’t ever forget.

Long time winter camping is really a fun thing to do, any long term camping is, but in the winter, you can really escape people and separate yourself from this time, and this modern, crowded America.
