The Part of their interview I found most disturbing was the claim that their girls didn’t really realize they had been abused. Children are curious, none of them know sexual stuff until they get about10-12 year's old. It is true no one truly knows exactly what happened in Josh Duggar’s case. Evil intentions are not likely. Shame on all those creating this to be as bad as rape We are to forgive those that trespass against us, as in the Lord’s prayer

I'm going to get my head chopped off (figuratively) for asserting this, but here goes...I think a version of what happened in the Duggar family probably happens in many “normal”, meaning intact, middle class families because teenage boys are cauldrons of hormones. That doesn't make what went on anything close to “alright”, but it does make some of the Josh-Duggar-belongs-in-prison rhetoric ludicrous. I believe also that the release to the media of these sealed juvenile records was a frightening abuse of government power. I am bemused by how the topic of sexual abuse of children inspires many people to engage in a nuclear arms race of verbal condemnation of the accused, as if to say. “NOBODY hates pedophiles more than I do!” Well, we all hate pedophiles; does it really takes guts to condemn pedophilia? And does lumping the then-teenage Josh Duggar with adults who spend decades stalking and abusing children, and are unremorseful, really make sense?

I think before we judge we should ask:

1. What we would do if our 14 YO son behaved this way? Would we go as far as taking him to the police?

2. What we would expect to happen to ourselves if we behaved this way? Expulsion from house? Punishment? Ridicule? Detention center?

I don’t think the Duggar reaction was out of line. And I think the female victims suffer worse harm from the disclosure than from the secret.

Yes what Josh did was disgusting. But that doesn’t change the fact that the family is being punished for (eventually) telling the authorities instead of keeping the punishment within the family like it would have been throughout most history. And that the liberal frenzy gleefully dragging the family through the mud in graphic blow by blow detail simultaneously gloating and pretending to care for the children is doing incalculably more damage to the daughters than some stupid kid touching his sister’s junk.

Thats why conservatives are losing and will continue to lose as long as they stupidly continue to play by the left’s rules and allow them to define the battlelines.
