Gluttony is one of those strangely archaic words you don't hear much anymore, much like shame, humility, and honesty.

I found it interesting that the petite girl to Joey’s left slammed down 18 to Joey’s winning 19! Wonder if she is a “pro competition eater”?

I never understood the appeal of these "eating" contests.

Back when I was little, a county fair I attended had a blueberry pie eating contest. People (mostly teenagers) would sit at a long picnic table and a blueberry pie was placed in front of them. They then had to eat with their hands tied behind their backs.

When the contest is over, everybody's face was smeared with blueberry. I found that to be quite disgusting and even to this day, a wave of revulsion comes over me when I see blueberry pie and think of that day.

Also, is a contest like this something you would want on your resume? I mean, if you are applying for a job and the interviewer asks you about your other achievements outside of work, would you really want to put out there that you can eat 23 hot dogs in two minutes?
