A man at the location was acting erratically and got into a into a fight with his friends, who tried to restrain him before he broke loose, crashed through a window, and fell two stories to an alley below, the Police Department said in a news release.

Too bad the kid died. Drugs, alcohol,or a mental condition. I’ll wait for the toxicology results before I say anymore.
Please don’t make me click on the link. Just tell me if the kid had one of those typical nonsensical Swede/Amish names my spidey senses tell me he had.
No he did not. The kid must have been blitzed out of his mind.
Looks like a cracker, so it will disappear from the news cycle tomorrow.
Proof again that no matter how bad the situation is, involving the police makes it worse.
Thank goodness. If I see Pat Boone and Wink Martindale out there one more time grandstanding and pontificating about white lives mattering and fomenting self-control, I’ll lose my mind.
Nothing to see here. Move along.
Yep, in this case, walking toward the police apparently called for a death sentence. Good thing he was not walking over to tell them what the problem was.
There are some kinds of people, who should never become intoxicated or high without sober friends staying with them. Nor should this kind of person leaving the safe confines of their home while drunk. Not everyone can handle a strong drink or some experimental substance. Doesn’t matter if everybody else just loved those pot brownies. results can differ dramatically from brain to brain, from psyche to psyche.
Well, one for damn sure, the officer got across his message of “You will respect my authority.” When I am approached, at a respectful distance, you will kneel, place your face to the earth, and beg me to recognize you. then ypo may speak to me.
If the article is substantially correct, this was a very bad shoot. A drunk advances towards a cop while mouthing off. For some reason, this puts the cop in fear for his life. Drunk gets tasered, then gets shot to death.
There is no mention of the drunk being armed. And there is no mention of the drunk actually touching the cop.
To quote Screamin' Jay Hawkins, "Let your mind roam."
This type person would normally never follow these guidelines.
What does Long Beach and Baltimore have in common? Police Chief Tony Batts.
Police used to be trained to physically take a man down easily without shooting him. This fellow is never alleged to have had a weapon. This cop just didn’t want to have to go through the hasle of restraining the man. It is more efficient to just shoot the guy in that situation. I have watched a smallish cop put a large muscular man who was making threats on the ground and get him cuffed without help and without a taser or stick. Around here that is how it happens. On the beach in Spring Break time these confrontations happen pretty often with drunk and threatening revelers, some of whom are recent veterans and pretty physically fit.
White boy.
If he had a scrabble name he would have been identified as a “teen,” even at 20 y.o.
Nor should this kind of person be leaving the safe confines of his home while drunk.
