Interesting bit of trivia about My Three Sons and MacMurray: Fred had moved to Florida by that time, and was wanting to spend more time with his family. So, in order to get him to do the series, the studio agreed to film all of his scenes for an entire season at once. Once that was done, MacMurray headed home, and the rest of the cast would film the rest of each weekly episode without him.
