The Clinton Foundation shook down a charity

Ok, I think Clinton is nothing but a crook. However, how does refusing to show up at a gala unless paid rise to the level of shakedown? I mean, couldn't the charity have said, "Thank you for your consideration and we're sorry you've decided not to attend"?

My interpretation of a shakedown is when blackmail or something harmful is threatened in exchange for money or power.

Maybe I'm missing something in the article? I did read it.

Yes I see what you are saying, it’s a quid pro quo. But what makes it slimy is he is taking money from a charity, or diverting it I guess to his. Plus an lifetime achievement award? For what? That is especially slimy, having ego stroked.

Usually a charity brings in a top named individual to help raise $$$ for their charity...that person may get an honorarium. ..but not at the going rate. Clinton is scum.
