Yes we do. If he was taken to the police then why was he not arrested? Why was he not convicted? Why was he given “special treatment”? Why is he not on the sex offender registry? Don’t give me that “are you with out sin” sh!t. Had it been your daughter he molested you’d want his head on a stake!

He was taken to the police. That’s how we know about this situation to begin with.

The police filed a report about an incident of 4th degree sexual assault and an officer had a talk with him about the seriousness of the crime.

That is what we know happened. So where is the cover-up? If the Duggars hadn’t reported it, like you claim they didn’t, then you would never have heard about this in order to get upset about it.

Didn’t they (the family) do exactly what you are saying they should have done?

Why did King David not kill his son Amnon when he raped his half sister Tamar? You want to really understand what sexual sin does in a family...study the off and on 20 year bloody civil war that ensued when Absolom conspired for two years to kill Amnon then run from David. Absolom tried to usurp his father’s throne and had David on the run for a time. In the end, Absolom was destroyed despite David’s attempts to win him back and to preserve his life despite the warfare.

It was during some of this dark time That David wrote some of his most heart felt Psalms. His lament over his (”oh Absalom, my son!”)son’s death makes for some heart breaking reading. Absalom had been right in his sentiments but wrong in opposing his father. David knew his son had been in the right concerning the evil done to Tamar by Amnon, and David’s attempts to make peace with Absalom were spurned, only adding to David’s sense of guilt and shame! Absalom, was not in the right to take it upon himself to be judge and executioner for only the King had that authority, yet David did not act wisely and this stoked Absalom’s bitterness and disgust with his father.

We are evil humans and like all humans, even the best of us are flawed. The Bible even says that God doesn’t punish all folks as they deserve to be punished, instead he reaches out with grace and love for all of us, willing forgive and restore us to himself.

It is said that David was a man after God’s own heart. Here we see in David, (seeking some restoration of Absalom to himself), the coming person of Jesus Christ thru whom the Father was offering restoration to all sinful men, for all time...even you Morgana!

Did not Jesus cry out...”Oh Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that stonest the prophets...would that I had gathered you like a hen gatherest her chicks...?You see the harrowing echo of Christ’s own lament in David’s lament”(””O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom! If only I had died instead of you—O Absalom, my son, my son!”) Well, Jesus did die for us...and you too Morgana! I can’t imagine the pain you went thru but I work where I often see the result of such cruelty done to many women and it breaks my heart. Yet I know there can be healing and a place to start again. For anyone!
