I always thought the King Ranch was the biggest.

This is specified as the largest CONTIGUOUS ranch. I believe that the King Ranch operation may be larger in total acreage but is not contiguous.

Yes, you are correct. King Ranch is over 800,000 acres and is comprised of 4 large divisions, only two of which touch along a short border. So 3 different pieces of land, not contiguous.
