I found interesting his description of how many people in our society enjoy hurting others. It seems to justify our justice system.

Brilliant writer - found the answer to a question I’ve been reading for twenty-five years trying to understand - why are so many people who are otherwise so bright so easily beguiled by such an obvious scam as Communism? - in a footnote in one of his essays - transcendence - people’s need to escape what they see as the limitations of life through something bigger than themselves, like a Great Cause.....

I’m a huge fan of Theodore Dalrymple. I especially liked “Life at the Bottom: The Worldview that Makes the Underclass,” as well as “Our Culture What’s Left of It.” Anything he writes is great.
