Antwan? Really? It really doesn’t help when parents give their kids made up names. Shaniqua, Shanaynay, Latrina, Johntavius. If I were these kids I’d act up to, knowing that no matter hard I try, employers won’t take me seriously because my mother didn’t give me a real name. Might as well wear clown get-up 24/7.

I knew a woman who was given one of those names. She chose to use the name Tonya, and was actually a successful PhD educated medical researcher. People who want to be successful can choose to use respectable names.

True... When I see a made up name on a resume, I reject it. I wouldn't care if the said person graduated top of the class at MIT, but one time, I got a resume from a made up name and I ask the guy if I could call him Mark, he said, "No, that's not my name. My name is unique."

Unique...but it won't help getting a job.

those are made up and well thought out African names!...its the most work many of those parents will ever put in on those kids...many times its the last input the baby-daddies have with their kids....

Sad,,,but true...

The best name that I’ve seen was a woman on Maury or Bill Cunningham’s show whose name was VaJohna. How could anyone name their daughter that?

What our stupid PC culture has done is create a group of millions of people— American blacks— whose behavior and beliefs are left unchecked, unchallenged, and uncorrected through the regular social mechanisms of mockery and scorn. It’s like a large-scale, massively destructive social experiment. The end result is someone named Q’Donkeyius walking around with his pants only pulled up to mid thigh.
