And nobody mentions how unfair these students are to the other students who sincerely want to learn. They are ruining their education through their vile and disgusting behavior. The lack of discipline in our society is having catastrophic effects. These students should be separated from the others.
Segregation? Yep, it was once forced then it became what the press calls white flight. Civilized people avoid the uncivilized, imagine that.
There was a time when students were grouped within a grade depending on standardized test rankings and grades. Those most bent on academic achievement were grouped together, as were those least so inclined or able.
Someone decided that was demeaning or something and mixed the students up in the groups so none would be 'left behind' or some such.

In the soda shop scene, we see the gang kids menacing, shoving, and mocking students who have their homework with them. Can’t have egg heads hitting the books. Typical behavior for teen thugs of any ethnicity.
Tragically only two of the little monsters are dead or in prison at the end.
This is the part that gets me. There are lots of minority students who want to learn, to achieve, to get the heck out of there. But the troublesome kids are going nowhere, and they don't intend to go down alone.
