I remember an old old GUNSMOKE 30 minute episode in which a man kept beating his wife because he said the Bible gave him permission to do it.
One day the wife, who could not read, met a preacher and asked where it said a man could beat his wife.
The preacher said there was no such verse giving a man the right to beat his wife. She then went home and shot her husband dead, and Matt Dillon refused to arrest her.

Maybe her husband was really one of those 'founding father' Mohammedans that Obama references. And her husband was really talking about the Koran (which instructs the husband to beat his wife), and not the Bible.
