wow ma’am, get a sense of humor. This is pro sports - everybody wants an edge....every team pushes the envelope.....every team has the gamesmanship strategies. And it’s not just players, teams do it, change the height of their grass to suit their talent versus that of the opponent, loosen or tighten rims, etc.
Every QB plays around with the ball pressure in football too. Brady pushed it too far, and got caught. He played magnificently after the balls were reinflated as well
Goodell likely did this to:
1. Deflect criticism from his own horrible no good year, particularly with the very bad Ray Rice decision.
2. Deflect criticism for the increasingly thuggish behavior of the NFL players.
3. Show that he is on top of it.
4. In addition, he may have been pressured by so many black players who thought he was too tough on Rice and Peterson because they were black.
Good grief this is such a sham. What a moronic thing to do. There was no punishment specified for going outside this rule, so he makes one up after the fact. There was just zero competitive advantage in both the AFC championship game (28-0 in the second half of the Colts game) and the Super Bowl.
I think we should go back and kick people out of the Baseball Hall of Fame who used spitters, and doctored balls (about 90%).
Reminds me of Watergate in the sense that both Nixon and Brady did something illegal to get an advantage when each would have easily won anyway and then were severely punishment when each was caught.
“Brady pushed it too far, and got caught. He played magnificently after the balls were reinflated as well”
Well then, to quote one that is notoriously known, “What difference does it make?”
