Where in California? Must be Santa Cruz, or south. Northern California beaches would still be cold and gloomy.

San Diego? Santa Barbara? Long Beach?

The wedding was in Santa Cruz, and it was cold out there.

Ah, but it still was sunny! I’m glad you enjoyed a little bit of the beach. It was a favorite hang out when we were kids, even though I lived many miles inland. I have cousins who still live there.

Many years ago, my aunt and uncle hosted Thanksgiving dinner in Santa Cruz. My husband was in Europe, but I took all my kids on the bus south from the SF Bay Area. (4 of them ranging from the ages of 5-10). It was a particularly cold year. In fact they had a little bit of snow several weeks later.

My mother drove over from the valley, bringing my grandmother. My grandmother was concerned that my littlest one wasn’t dressed warmly enough, and she encouraged him to zip his jacket and pull up his hood.

He looked at her, dead pan, and answered, “That’s why we come to the beach, Great Grandmother, to get cold.”

She laughed about that for the rest of her life.

One more....the shades were favors at the wedding and had their names and date on them.

...wish I had a pic of the song about having my shades when the band played it the whole dance floor was covered and we all had them on. It was fun.

They took us to Haight Street and Hippie Hill. This was taken at Cha Cha Cha Haight. I was a bit astounded and asked why they took us to Haight Ashbury and Hippie Hill..and they had no idea what I was talking about, so they got a brief history lesson. The bride and groom relaxing after the wedding......the pitcher of sangria was awesome!
