A new version of Windows generally helps kick sales up a bit and MS is coming out with Windows 10.
Not as big a kick as in the old days when a new version of Windows meant you needed more memory, more CPU and more storage ... So they’re getting pretty low on the diminishing returns scale.
Yup. There is little point in getting a 4.5Ghz cpu when you havent maxed out a 3ghz yet. Or ram or whatever. My PC is a couple years old now and I can’t come close to redlining it with even high end music production software. The only thing that will do that is modded Skyrim/Games. I don’t forsee any upgrades for a long time. Just replacement if components fail.
